To mark Hachette Livre’s 200th anniversary, the Palais Brongniart hosts the Grandes Rencontres Hachette, an event open to all celebrating the joy of reading and bringing readers together with authors. In collaboration with Shortcut Events, which leads the project, ateliergh creates the event’s design and scenography, transforming the venue into a cultural forum dedicated to discovery and conversation.

The design responds to the Palais’s architecture through a collection of light wood furnishings. Bookshelves, display tables and counters create an intimate setting within the building’s monumental spaces. Rounded forms echo the arches, while open structures preserve sightlines and invite visitors to move freely.

The scenography connects publishers’ spaces and meeting areas through a shared visitor route. It brings cohesion to a diverse range of publishing identities, keeping books and conversation at its heart. Visitors can pause, browse a book or linger over a discussion.

With nearly 15,000 visitors, more than 60 authors and around a hundred events, the Grandes Rencontres Hachette celebrates a thriving reading culture. Together, atelier gh and Shortcut Events provide a welcoming setting for this collective celebration, encouraging curiosity and exchange.
